Art meets science:

artists in residence Maastricht University | spring 2026

Curious about what happens when artists and scientists meet? To mark the 50th anniversary of Maastricht University and the 65th anniversary of the Hustinx Foundation, two artists have been selected for a special residency.

Over the coming months, Sanne Vaassen and Alessio Faustini will connect their artistic practice with the research taking place at Maastricht University. They will present the results during the Pleasure, Art & Science Festival (PAS Festival), which will take place from 3 to 5 September 2026 in and around the university buildings.

Sanne Vaassen

For this residency, Sanne Vaassen focuses on internal bodily processes and the ways in which these are recorded, visualised and interpreted within scientific research, particularly epilepsy research. To this end, she is collaborating with Ron Heeren of the Maastricht Multimodal Molecular Imaging Institute (M4i).
