On Saturday 7 September 2026, Maastricht University will be hosting a special edition of the UM Guesthouse’s annual Welcome Picnic. International students staying at the UM Guesthouse will be warmly welcomed to Maastricht. This event is all about meeting people, making connections and building a community, so that students can quickly feel at home and make new friends.

To mark the university’s 50th anniversary, residents from the surrounding neighbourhoods are also invited this year. This creates a unique opportunity to bring students and local residents together. Expect a lively summer setting with live music, food trucks serving Dutch classics such as chips and snacks, and an open bar.

The Welcome Picnic will take place on the lawn next to the UM Guesthouse (Brouwersweg 100) and is free of charge for residents of the UM Guesthouse and invited local residents. Registration will open shortly.
